What do I need to provide for the mixing process?
Please provide:
Multitrack Stems: Export each individual track (vocals, instruments, etc.) as separate files in high-resolution WAV or AIFF format. Ensure they’re the same length and aligned properly.
Dry Tracks Preferred: Provide unprocessed tracks (without effects like reverb, delay, compression, etc.) unless specific effects are crucial to the sound.
Session Information: Clearly numbered and labeled stems/tracks
Tempo and Key Info: Provide the song’s tempo (BPM) and key signature if relevant, especially for time-based effects or tuning.
A Reference Track: Offer a reference track that reflects the sound you’re aiming for, in terms of tone, balance, and overall feel.
Production Notes: Share any creative notes or directions on how you want the final mix to sound (e.g., vocal levels, instrumental balance, or specific effects).
Version Requirements: Specify if you need different versions of the mix (e.g., instrumental, acapella, or radio edits).
What do I need to provide for the mastering process?
For the mastering process, please provide the following:
Final Mix: The completed, high-resolution stereo mix (preferably in WAV or AIFF format) with no compression or limiting on the master bus.
Track Information: Song titles, artist name, album/EP title (if applicable), and track order for albums or EPs.
Headroom: Ensure your final mix has adequate headroom (typically around -3 to -6 dB).
Reference Tracks: If possible, provide reference tracks that reflect the sound or style you’re aiming for.
Notes: Any preferences or specific adjustments you want in the master (e.g. louder, more bass, warmer tone, etc.).
Sample Rate and Bit Depth: Provide your mix in its original sample rate and bit depth, without upsampling or downsampling.
Version Requirements: Specify if you need different versions, like a radio edit, instrumental, or vinyl master.
How do I submit my files for mixing and mastering?
We currently recommend sharing your stems with us via WeTransfer (www.wetransfer.com). You can send up to 2GB per email, without the need to sign up, and it’s completely free of charge.
*From 01/01/25
You can submit your files through our secure file upload system at the checkout page. Ensure that you provide high-quality audio files in formats like WAV or AIFF, along with clear labelling (e.g. “Lead Vocal.wav,” “Electric Guitar.wav”). If possible, include any notes about the sound you’re looking for and reference tracks.
What file format should my tracks be in?
We advise submitting your files in WAV or AIFF format, with a minimum sample rate of 44.1kHz and bit depth of 24-bit to ensure the best sound quality. Avoid MP3 or compressed formats as they can reduce audio fidelity.
Does mixing include vocal tuning?
Our mixing packages DO NOT include manual vocal tuning with Melodyne as a standard service, generally the artist and producer will have that covered. However, if there’s a particularly noticeable issue, we may address it briefly. Additionally, we apply subtle auto-tune when appropriate to enhance vocal consistency.
Can I request additional services like vocal tuning or beat alignment?
Yes, we offer additional services such as extensive vocal tuning (w/ Melodyne, Auto-Tune), vocal editing & comping, noise reduction & backing vocal packages. These services can be added to your mixing package for an additional fee. Contact us for details.
Will I own the final mix and master?
You retain 100% full ownership of the final mix and master. We do not hold any rights to your music or the final product.
Do you offer revisions if I’m not happy with the mix or master?
Yes, we offer Unlimited Revisions on both mixing and mastering services to ensure you’re completely satisfied with the final product.
Do you use a watermark?
Yes, we use a watermark while offering unlimited revisions. The watermark remains in place until the work is completed and approved by the client.
What is your refund policy?
We offer a 100% money-back guarantee if you are not happy with the mix.
